Tyler makes his living online, he doesn't hide that fact, and is completely open about that. These contests are another method he's using to generate money for himself. He's never tried to set himself up as an altruistic blogger who is on the net trying to help people. It's a value proposition: If you sign up under his ID, you can compete in contests for prizes instead of just earning affiliate $. If you don't like it, you don't have to get involved. Your comments are akin to someone complaining to you that you spend all your time promoting your own affiliate offers, and none of theirs. Why would you do that? You're here to make money.
