Affiliate Marketing Income Report: February 2014

I haven’t been getting as many comments on my posts as I used to in the past (most likely a result of my less-than-stellar post frequency the past year), so hopefully these reports still interest some of you out there and aren’t just becoming boring repetitive blog post filler.
I think part of the lack of response may also be due to my poor performance lately. It’s sure a hell of a lot more exciting when I’m pushing big numbers, and especially exciting when I’m setting new personal bests.
While February wasn’t a personal best (or anywhere near it), it was my best month in half a year, so it really helped to lift my spirits.
As with my last few reports, since this report is long overdue, my memory is going to fail on the particulars of what went on with my campaigns, so I won’t be able to go into too much detail in this post apart from the numbers (which are 100% accurate).
Anyhow, let’s get on with it.
February 2014 Affiliate Campaign Income:
$25,941.97
I decided to try some of the affiliate networks I hadn’t used in a while.
You can thank the weird penny numbers due to some currency conversion to USD…
Affiliate Network Breakdown:
- Affiliate Network #1: $24,341.34
- Affiliate Network #2: $736.60
- Affiliate Network #3: $407.00
- Affiliate Network #4: $410.03
Expenses:
$15,900.52
I remember in February also revisiting some old traffic sources. I saw some early success and got excited, but then it fizzled out.
Traffic Source Breakdown:
- Traffic Source #1: $1,538.25
- Traffic Source #2: $59.50
- Traffic Source #3: $10,539.33
- Traffic Source #4: $2,641.33
- Traffic Source #5: $1,077.11
Net Profit:
$10,041.45
While $10,000 a month net profit only works out to an average of $330~ a day ($500/day if you count it as a regular person’s workweek, since I work everyday), there’s just something about the "$10,000" number that is so satisfying. It’s most likely the simple fact that it’s 5 digits instead of 4 
That works out to a high 63% ROI too.
2014 Affiliate Marketing Results
Now that I’m into my 2nd year of these affiliate marketing reports, here’s a recap of how 2013 fared for the entire year:

I’m averaging $6,000 net profit per month so far this year. Not too bad, but nothing to write about home about either…
Net Profit Projections
This is just a reminder that I decided to cease including my graphs for projected future numbers, as I decided that there really are no trends when it comes to affiliate marketing. It’s simply far too volatile, and so much of it is out of your control.
February Recap
In February, I was finally beginning to get settled into my new house, and my puppy was pretty much house-broken.
I was able to find a bit more time to actually work, but still the majority of this time was spent on catching up on neglected things (mainly e-mail).
Affiliate marketing-wise, I mainly did the same as per usual, apart from trying old traffic sources and affiliate networks that I had used in the past. The improvement in income is mainly a result of the usual unpredictable nature of this industry.
March Plans and Predictions
Normally in this section I list the plans I have for the upcoming month as well as predict how I think the month will fare profit-wise. However, since March has already come and gone, I will be skipping this section in this report since I already know how it went.
I plan to publish March’s affiliate marketing income report around probably 7-10 days from now, after I get another couple posts up first. I’m really starting to get caught up now anyways

Question – do you do personal 1 on 1 training sessions for affiliate marketing if you were paid? I’d be interested.

The problem with this is that it’ll never really be worth it for anyone doing the teaching. If they REALLY know their stuff, then it won’t be worth their time to charge others unless they overcharged. Their time would be better spent simply working on their own stuff.
Yes I realize it won’t be super beneficial for the teacher. It would more be to help someone out that really could use the help and is a fellow Canadian from the lower mainland!
However if you aren’t interested that’s fine.
I believe that in most cases, the “teachers” just try to sell you the stuff that used to work for them and is maybe in the decline. The best kept secrets are never displayed untill its (almost) to late.

I disagree.
You made your 6 figures over the past year Tyler, but what assets have you built? When you were moving into your new house and training your puppy, what income did you have coming in? Once your campaigns died, so did your income.
That’s the downside of affiliate marketing. Its great for generating cash, but you’re not building any assets.
Many great affiliate marketers have gone on to offer training (STM / IMGrind guys are most notable). It’s a great peace of mind to know you have almost guaranteed income coming in each month.
Another reason is that after 7 years of launching campaigns, you get tired of it and want a new challenge.
There is a hungry audience of people out there who want to learn affiliate marketing and are willing to pay for it.
I’m not sure why you think it’s not worth it considering it’s possible to make millions a year running campaigns, AND teaching it.
Yeah you really could make a ton of money doing both.
In the end you can always use a steady business that generates your revenue.
I agree, you should consider seling your own paid seminar / ebook.
People are not posting because things changed. Numbers alone don’t woo people to worship you anymore. If you are looking for an ego boost where you’ll get tons of comments and props post up some practical guides how you made ie 10k what kind of offer.. what u did different than others.. in other words valuable info…
Charlesngo does private training for 10k 🙂 whether you have to be asian or not for him to train you is an unanswered question
Thanks for the tip Mike. $10k is however a little steep for training.
I probably only need an hour or two. I know basically everything but just need a little push to get my campaigns profitable and scalable on an ongoing basis.
I don’t have any private training available.
As far as teaching Asians exclusively that makes no sense considering the audience / market is 10x larger in USA.

Hey, Tyler! I am sure that the comments are fewer because of your lack of posting frequency, not because your income has dropped. But I see that things are getting way better now and that NS#1 kicked some butt in February. Maybe you’ll share with us what you did to get that huge jump in earnings?

nice you’re upto 10k again, I know that feeling when everything just dries up and you’re not in the right mood getting that shit up and running again. Some weeks off/holiday helped me a lot to realize what/where I’m heading in my future and how i love affiliate marketing.
I’m a regular reader on your blog and really likes your Income breakdowns, but waht I would like to see from time to time are some case studys on failed testing campaigns. Personally i get the most out of failed campaigns studys 🙂

The reason you don’t get so many comments, Cruz, is that you didn’t post on your blog for about half a year, with no explanation. And the reports you’re publishing now are way out of date – you do realise it’s June 2014 here? And you’re talking about what occurred in Feb.
We want to know why the hell you stopped posting for so long, and what the hell you’re doing NOW, not your half-remembered breakdowns of what you were up to 4 months ago. You were talking as if you were going to jack in the whole affiliate marketing thing and do something else?
What I really like about Tyler – and, it’s why I keep coming back, is because he tells it like it is.
For someone like myself, who has near zero-knowledge about affiliate marketing , it’s refreshing to see someone posting even when it’s not ‘good’ news.
Having worked for myself for nearly 12 years, I’m a firm believer that as a business person, you show your real talents when circumstances aren’t going your way.

Tyler – long-time reader here. I just wanted to put my hand up and say that I, for one, am enjoying your reports – even if they are pretty darn late!
I agree with one or two of the other commenters that one of the reasons I read your blog is simply because you “tell it like it is”.
It’s so easy, particularly with affiliate marketing, to either be taken in by all the “six figure hype” or to get burned early on, lose a lot of money and give up.
You, Sir, are the voice of reason that shows the lows as well as the highs, and for this I solute you.
