Have I started a revolution?

November 6, 2005 Posted by Tyler Cruz

I created this blog only to fulfill the requests of many people who have followed my ‘story’.

And now? Now there are dozens of ‘copycat’ entrepreneur blogs sprouting up everywhere. One of the first I saw was Jon’s, at j0n.org. But this didn’t bother me at all, since first off he told me he was influenced (inspired is too strong a word here) by mine, and secondly since he should indeed have a blog since he’s a very accomplished entrepreneur; you don’t get nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year by Sitepoint for nothing..

But then, I started noticing more and more popping up: http://gethinoakes.blogspot.com/ and
http://www.guk6kk.blogspot.com/ for example, and many many others. Now, I don’t mind, in fact I feel kinda cool that I may have started a little small fad. Jon just told me of some new ones that popped up:

www.j0e.org
www.j1m.org
www.nick1.org

Which are really copies of his since they are on WordPress and using numbers in the names.

This isn’t to say that ALL web entrepreneur blogs are decendants of this one – of course there are others, I’m not THAT nieve, but it’s still interesting to see all of them popping up..

I only wish these people would make them more interesting. Set a goal and try to attain that goal and keep records of what you’re doing with your site(s), etc.

Hmm, I dunno why I’m ranting..

j1m, j0e and nick1 are not entrepeneur blogs, Far from it..

We know jon (j0n) and in our infinate coolness thought it would be amusing to all set up .org blogs with a default wordpress account, after checking first that jon didn’t mind. If we were all serious about becoming ‘web entrepreneurs’ and felt the need to tell the world about it then surely we’d come up with something original? I dunno maybe not..

    Smile.

Don’t you think it’s a little pretentious of you to assume that these blogs are all copycats and that you founded the trend of an entrepreneur’s blog?

I see your point Tyler, but there will be a lot of people that don’t like this post and may take offence by it, personally I don’t care.

I’ll admit. I did a blog because of you and it is very similar but I do it for my own motivation. the blog isn’t ment for anyone else.

Hey Tyler, I just started following your blog recently. I really enjoyed how you say you are going to do something without knowing the result yet and then updating it- like how you got the banner ads, updates on your projects.

You really tell it like it is. Your enthusiasm on internet marketing oozes out whether people like it or not. Haha, I actually really enjoy it because I understand the feeling- when you don’t know whether something is going to work, and the pleasantly surprised. You feel like you have to tell the world.

All the people flaming you really cracks me up. That’s how you know you’re up there- when people hate you for no reason.
