Worst Birthday Ever
August 31, 2006 Posted by Tyler CruzI just spent the last 10-12 hours trying to install WordPress and import my old posts, change my mind and revert back to Blogger, go back to WordPress. Break WordPress, Fix WordPress, Switch Blogger account to Blogger Beta, realize there’s no FTP option in Blogger Beta yet and thus no domain open for now, reinstalled WordPress..
.. only to find out that WordPress:
1. Didn’t import any of my videos.
2. Messed up the vast majority of older posts. So, they are basically garbage.
I’m really upset, because I’ve poured soooo many hours into my blog, and now most of my old posts are crapped up.
And also there are no good skins for WP, and I’m not going to spend money on hiring somebody. I’m broke right now.
So yeah, I’m actually considering giving up on blogging. Takes too much time, and I’m pissed with what’s happened.

I actually prefer this one, the comments system is much nicer :p Wouldn’t hurt to keep an eye out for a nicer theme though. Keep up the blogging Tyler, it’s good stuff 🙂

Stick with it Tyler – the amount of plugins for wordpress will add so much killer functionality to your site, that it will pay for itself soon enough. The list of cool toys for WP grows every day.
Idea – find someone through the WP forums to clean up the mess, and pay ’em a few bucks.
Searching the forums from their site doesn’t work, so use the instructions below to add a wordpress forum search to your firefox browser – save you a bunch of time.

That’s pretty shitty man… specially being your bday! But hey, making big decisions when you are emotionally down may not always be the best choice.
Personally I find your blog a BIG inspiration and check for new posts everyday. You kick ass dude, don’t let this tear you down.
Obviously it’s up to you, but many readers would miss those funky videos and chilled out comments.
Don’t let it get to you. You know better than that.

Dude, grow up. Hire someone to do stuff if you don’t know how to do, or live with the limitations of the tools you’re currently using.

I think its safe to say that wordpress was a good move just for the feedback that you’re now going to get. Blogger stopped me from posting too. Hopefully you can see how much we all appreciate your blogging! 🙂
