June’s Affiliate Contests on PublisherChallenge

June 4, 2009 Posted by Tyler Cruz

PublisherChallenge has been doing well and I’d like to let you guys know about the 2 competitions that are running this month because your chance of walking away with a great prize are actually really good.

For June we have 2 competitions: one by PeerFly, which is their 3rd competition on PublisherChallenge in a row, and the other by CPARev, which is their first time running a competition.

These competitions have really evolved from the ones I used to run on my blog which started exactly one year ago now. The prize pools have increased significantly among other things such as there being more prize spots available.

I’ll briefly describe CPARev’s contest first, followed by PeerFly’s:

CPARev’s Affiliate Challenge

CPARev is making their debut to PublisherChallenge by putting up the largest prize pool held to date.

In addition to a guaranteed prize pool of $3,500 with no minimum prerequisite required for the Main Prize category, there are a total of 10 spots in the Main Category which is double the amount of any prior contest.

Some of prizes include a 52-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV, MacBook Pro, 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera, and a VIP trip to Vegas to name but a few.

You can find out more information about CPARev’s Affiliate Challenge here.

Here is a quick rundown of the prizes:

Main Prize Category

  • 1st Place – PlayStation 3 Rock Band 2 Package
  • 2nd Place – Canon Rebel XS 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera
  • 3rd Place – Xbox 360 Elite Gamer Bundle
  • 4th Place – Amazon Kindle 2
  • 5th Place – Nintendo Wii Friends Bundle
  • 6th Place – 16GB iPod Touch
  • 7th-10th Place – Flip MinoHD

VIP Prizes

  • $25,000.00 – $49,999.99 VIP Tier – 2.13GHz White 13-inch MacBook
  • $50,000.00 – $74,999.99 Tier – 2.4GHz Aluminum 13-inch MacBook
  • $75,000.00 – $99,999.99 Tier – 2.66GHz 15-inch MacBook Pro
  • $100,000.00 – $199,999.99 Tier – Sony Bravia 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
  • $200,000.00 – $399,999.99 Tier – VIP Vegas Trip for Two for 4 nights
  • $400,000.00+ VIP Tier – ZERO-G Weightless Experience

Since there are 10 guaranteed prizes in the Main Prize category, your chances are very good of walking away with a nice prize. Currently, only 3 publishers have generated anything and 2nd and 3rd are tied at $2 each.

My prediction is that it will take around $500 to take 5th place and $50 to take 10th by the end of the competition, so as you can see it really is quite easy to win a prize. You can take a look at the current standings below:

PeerFly’s June Challenge

PeerFly is back with their 3rd competition in a row. This should prove that they’re here for the long run, and that by signing up with then you can expect them to run future competitions as well. They have already given away $8,000 in prizes to PublisherChallenge winners.

This month, PeerFly has increased their prizes for the top 2 New Signup winners, so if you haven’t joined yet you are really missing out.

Some of the prizes include two VIP Las Vegas trips, 2 electric scooters, a 52-inch HDTV, a Macbook, and a trip for 2 to experience the weightlessness of space!

You can find out more information about PeerFly‘s Huge Giveaway here.

Here is a quick rundown of the prizes:

Main Prize Category

  • 1st Place – Aluminum 13-inch MacBook
  • 2nd Place – PlayStation 3 Rock Band 2 Package
  • 3rd Place – Xbox 360 Elite Gamer Bundle
  • 4th Place – Nintendo Wii Friends Bundle
  • 5th Place – 16GB iPod Touch

New Signup Prize Category

  • 1st Place – $100 Cash
  • 2nd Place – $60 Cash

VIP Prizes

  • $25,000.00 – $49,999.99 VIP Tier – Sony VAIO Duo Core 17-inch Laptop
  • $50,000.00 – $74,999.99 VIP Tier – Samsung 52-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV
  • $75,000.00 – $99,999.99 VIP Tier – Two Electric 1500 Watt Scooters
  • $100,000.00 – $199,999.99 VIP Tier – VIP Vegas Trip for Two for 4 nights
  • $200,000.00 – $299,999.99 VIP Tier – ZERO-G Weightless Experience
  • $300,000.00+ VIP Tier – Epic VIP Vegas Trip for Two for a Full Week

PeerFly has continued to offer the best VIP prizes. I really want somebody to win one of the bigger VIP tiers as it’d be awesome to send somebody to experience weightlessness or give them a true VIP Las Vegas trip.

They take really tight margins on their offers so chances are they can meet or beat whatever payout you’re getting anywhere else.

The competition is naturally a bit tougher on PeerFly than CPARev due to it being their 3rd month running a competition, but don’t forget that there are prizes for new affiliates as well.

You can take a look at the current standings below:

More and more affiliate networks are running performance-based competitions these days, however I believe PublisherChallenge is still the only site that offers guaranteed prizes with no minimum number required; most other competitions require a minimum number of commissions.

Anyhow, check out these two competitions and I hope to see you on the leaderboards soon!

I am considering signing up at CPARev and switching some of my links over to generate traffic. Do they have any good 1-field first pagers? I love my Flip and wouldn’t mind having an HD one 🙂

    • Tyler Cruz says:

      Way to aim low 😉

Like most networks, CPARev can get most offers you request, so it’d be worth signing up, seeing what they have, and requesting some particular offers you’re running at other networks.

  2. Becky Paul says:

    I WANT A FLIP! NOW!

  3. Cool! Need some ringtone offers

  4. Okay, I finally signed up and I’m going to “try” and participate this month. I’m going to aim REALLY low and just hope to finish in the top two for the new affiliates lol…

Then if I succeed, I’ll aim for 10th place even though I already have a Flip Mino…

  5. I’m going to try to join.Thanks!

  6. LOL! I just realized I only signed up for the PeerFly and not the CPARev’s… well, time to go and do that now lol… yes, I’m a little tired, that’s my excuse!

  7. Those are some BIG time prizes for affiliate marketers. Dang how I wish I can do affiliate marketing 🙁

  8. Greg Ellison says:

It looks like some great prizes that you can win. Greg Ellison

  9. Sebastian says:

I can push pretty big numbers but have to say for more experienced affiliates, the VIP packages at the highest tiers are kind of pointless.

For example, when I visit Vegas, I can have my room, airfare, dining, and transportation all comp’d by my slot host. Granted, I need to spend a lot in order to get this but that’s generally the reason I go.

Instead, I’d like to see something that is more unique/expensive to actually motive me to push more and more.

How about a BMW? I’m getting tired of my ’06 3-series and would love a free upgrade. Now that’d be a challenge and it’d be worthwhile too. Sure, it’s an expensive car but for the amount of money I’d be generating for the affiliate, not unrealistic. Other affiliate places have given away Porsche’s and such.. I’m not sure I could reach the highest tiers but it’d be fun trying for a newer Bimmer…

    My 2 cents..

    • Tyler Cruz says:

      Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I know that you can get all your stuff comped by casinos, but that’s really, as you said, if you gamble or frequent them a lot. I didn’t think the majority of affiliate marketers really gambled much.

The reason we never offered cars before is because I felt that super affiliates would already have their own expensive cars and cars are also a very personal thing, each with his or her own tastes. The other issue was shipping and possible cross-border levys.

Finally, a car such as a new BMW or Porche is way out of the budget…. our top prize at PeerFly for example is $18K. They are maxed out to where PeerFly can just barely make a profit… just 1% margins in most cases and in some cases on the prizes they only break even.

What about if we ran a longer ‘ongoing’ competition where if you generated a certain amount within a timeframe of 12 months we could give away a huge prize such as a Porche. So, if you genereated $1M within 1 year we’d give you a brand new Porche Boxster convertible for example. What do you think about that?

Any other comments or suggestions you have I’d love to hear…

      • Andrew says:

As someone who’s not an affiliate marketer nor someone interested in cars, I gotta admit, that sounds like a great idea.

That on-going competitions could be what seriously takes the website to the big leagues, when it’s not ‘just’ about laptops, trips, cameras and consoles anymore.

Y’know how when you were a kid you’d watch the gameshows and they won prizes like consoles and trips in the regular game and then the big showdown was for the car? Yeah, that.

      • Sebastian says:

        Tyler,

I don’t know, I think it’d be more practical to assume bigger affiliates have TVs, laptops, and that sort of thing over luxury cars.

My BMW is getting to be a bit old now (2006) but I’m not about to spring for a new one every couple of years. It’d be nice to have someone spring for this for me in exchange for me sending them big numbers. That way, it wouldn’t feel like I was spending money. 🙂

The extending contest sounds like a decent idea, though not sure I’d be able to put that much emphasis on a single affiliate for an entire year.. it might piss off other companies. I’d have to see what I could realistically send to them and if it’d be enough to hit the $1m mark by the end of the year. If not, no point in doing it..

        • Tyler Cruz says:

Okay, I understand, and thanks for letting me know your thoughts.

What might possibly work is take the best of borth worlds and run a longer competition for perhaps 2 months or 4 months. That way the prizes could literally double or quadruple in prize. The $100,000 tier would have a $24,000 prize within a 4-month span, for example, and the $200,000 tier would have a $58,000 prize… there’s your new car!

Hey, we might be onto something here!

  10. Looks like the challenge went really well, Tyler! That might be a great idea, publisherchallenge / gameshow! lol.

  11. Dean Saliba says:

I still have not dipped my toe into the affiliate marketing pool so I won’t be entering these competitions but very good luck to everyone who does. I shall join you soon. 🙂

  12. Hey, so I still haven’t gotten approved by either one… but particularly CPARev… anything I should know about?

    Jay

  13. Ben Pei says:

Definitely worth joining.. I hope I win something in the game..
