I live on 12 acres on a river in North Central Washington, probably about 3-4 hours from Vancouver during the summer (when we don't have snow on the ground lol), and wouldn't trade it for the world. But seriously, as an entrepreneur, you need to plan out ANY personal expense you take on extremely carefully, but especially your house which may be your largest expense in either your business or personal budget. As the owner of your own company, your house is a business expense - you will need to pay its owner (you) money to cover the payment...money that could otherwise be spent on an employee, additional advertising, etc. I know that it has seriously hampered my ability to react as nimbly as when I was renting, and my business has had to take on additional debt/investment as a result. That being said, I'm a large-dog person as well and would never be able to have my three dogs (Border Collie and 2x Catahoula Leopards) in a condo/apt, so I can understand the urge to get your own place.
