Tally Ho! I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC…
I was surfing the net the other day when I happened to come across a British site with various articles. On the site they had video ads, and I saw two men standing on a white background in the video ad which was displayed to me.
It resembled the famous “Hello I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC” commercials, but the two actors looked different. So, I had assumed it was just a parody, like a few that are around on YouTube. I played the ad anyway, interested in viewing the parody, but to my surprise it turned out to be the British version of the commercial from Apple!

I don’t know about you, but to me they don’t even compare to the Western versions. Anyway, I did a bit of researching (if you can call it that) and managed to find one more version of the famed commercials. I managed to find only one other country version of the commercials, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more out there.

The Japanese ones are pretty good, about the same quality as the Western ones… I’m still not a fan of the UK commercials though.

Condo Updates
Only five more days until I have possession of my condo!
I’ve finished signing my final mortgage papers with the bank and have everything done now except for meeting with the notary here and getting the title in my name and everything legally changed over. Hopefully that will take place tomorrow or sometime soon…
I’ve also set up the moving company, hydro, cable, etc. dates so I’m really just waiting to get the notary stuff done, then I’m moving in 5 days!
I should really start to pack…
Earlier today I went with my realtor to take some photos of my place to post here… well.. I took the photos while he hooked up my washer and dryer and stuff (they’re brand new and weren’t set up). He had a plane to catch for Costa Rica so I had to hurry with my photos, thus they aren’t the best photos and I missed some areas such as the laundry room.
Anyhow, here are some photos:

My kitchen… you’ve seen a photo before but now I have the lights on.
Counter backlighting..
The dishwasher is brand new like everything else, but when it runs, it leaks! So it should be getting fixed tomorrow hopefully (Monday). It just wasn’t calibrated to close all the way I believe.. hopefully an easy fix.
Living Room… didn’t have time to put the lights on or the fireplace… remote controlled air conditioning… the door leads to the balcony/patio.

I just watched the Brit versions and they are not to bad. Sometimes their attitude suits the ad better than the American version.

Geeeeese, you know your stuff! “They don’t even compare to the Western versions”…in the UK this kinda stuff is taught in primary school.
Also, you might want to consider that they might not appeal to you because you don’t know of the actors in them or understand cultural aspects and the humour in the adverts. They are specifically targeted at a UK audience. I would have thought you would understand targeted marketing.
In my own opinion some of them are better and some worse than the US ads. But I think these adverts will all appeal more to the majority of UK citizens than the US ads. The “Pie Chart” ad is fantastic.
I’m just wondering at what point the UK ceased to be part of the ‘western world’… was it the arrival of ‘sweet and sour pork’ or ‘chicken tikka’ or some other morsel of Asian food?
Or did we just all buy Japanese cars? Looks like the “Western markets” are going the same way now… Perhaps Blighty was ahead of that trend!
Whatever it was, last time I checked the UK was firmly placed just of the European mainland… No doubts the Europeans would be quite happy if we had moved our isle closer to Japan, but … there it is. In place. Not moved (much). Firmly in the North Atlantic. No matter wherever its residents would like it to be (probably a little bit warmer, semi-tropical even…)
A Brit. Who really does live in the non-Western world, not just the UK.
I thought the UK was considered European – is it not? Why would it be considered Western? It’s like 5 feet away from Europe..
