First off, I would suggest you only set up a forum about something that you are passionate about and have a really strong interest in - as Tyler did with PokerForums. Having an interest in the subject will give you the motivation and drive to put the huge amount of work in that will be needed to get your community off the ground. Once you have your forum up and running, you need to step to the plate and start populating it with content. As your community becomes established, your users will generate the majority of your content. Until this happens though, you will need to get this done yourself. When you have a good amount of content, you then need to begin your promoting - the really fun part! Don't ever stop creating content though; users will not join an empty community. Make every visitor a potential new member - and remember you can only do this if your community is differentiated and full of fantastic content! Hey Nick
