Win 1,000 of Your Own Custom Business Cards

July 9, 2010 Posted by Tyler Cruz

A bit over a year-and-a-half ago I ran a fun Business Card Giveaway which was hosted by UPrinting.com.

Well, they contacted me again a while back and want to run another giveaway with me. Since my blog is bigger now, I asked if I could get an upgrade in prizes, and they were happy to fulfill my request.

So this time, I’m giving away 4 sets of 1,000 high quality business cards (previously I gave away 4 sets of 250). Everybody needs business cards, and even if you already have some, it never hurts to get some more on hand. I personally have a set of business cards for my blog and a set for my corporation.

Any successful businessman will tell you how important it is to network, but what’s worse than getting yourself out there networking, only to have the people you spent telling your company to forget all about you the next day? Business cards are such a reminder and vital for proper networking and branding. If you don’t have any business cards yet, you should strongly consider getting some.

The Prizes

4 winners will each receive 1,000 business cards.

UPrinting is also letting you choose your card size, type of paper, and is offering full colour on both sides.

Here are more details:

  • 1,000 Business Cards
  • Sizes:  2 x 3.5”, 2 x 2” (square card) or 1.5 x 3.5” (slim card)
  • Paper: 14 pt gloss cardstock, 14 pt matte cardstock or 13 pt recycled uncoated cardstock
  • Specifications: Full Color Both Sides

3

Upload your own business card template, choose from a large number of pre-made templates, or create your own from scratch using their U-Design service and add your own logos and custom imagery.

How to Enter

To enter, all you have to do is record a video of yourself explaining why I should pick you as one of the 4 winners and then upload it to the video sharing site of your choice (YouTube, Viddler, Etc.) and then leave a comment on this post linking to the video.

Remember, most people are lazy and probably won’t enter, so your chances are most likely very good if you just submit a video.

I will be awarding my favourite 4 videos and will be looking for creativeness, energy, and humour, so keep that in mind when making your video.

I’ll be posting all of the videos on my blog when I announce the winners on July 15th.

The deadline is 11PM Eastern (8 PM Pacific) Time on July 15th, 2010. Remember to post a comment in this post linking to your video.

Unfortunately, this contest is only open to US residents, and you must be 18 years or older to enter.

(I actually think that if you’re willing to pay shipping that they will send outside of the US, but am not certain on this… so if you’re outside of the US and really want to enter, let me know and I’ll ask the about this)

Don’t Be Lazy!

Submitting an entry for the competition is easy, and your chances of winning are extremely high. Last time, only 3 people bothered making submissions, even though there were 4 prizes to give away… so if the turnout this time around is anything like it was last time, you’re pretty much guaranteed to win if you just submit a video.

Previous Winners

Below are the 3 winners from the last UPrinting Giveaway in case you needed some ideas or wanted to see just how easy it is to win:

1st place: Ryan McLean

2nd place: Ms. Missive

3rd place: Chris Brandrick

Thanks again to UPrinting.com for sponsoring this little competition.

  1. That’s amusing that a Canadian resident is hosting a contest that might only be open to US residents. This contest would have potential for some good marketing exposure, but you’re right, people are too lazy to take the time to make a video to enter a contest. Other people just might not want a video like this to be published on your blog.

1000 custom business cards sounds interesting! Unfortunately, I’m not comfortable talking in front of video cam and I’ve not tried that before, I’ll need to practice for a few times before I can start talking in front of video cam. I’ll pass this round, count me in for the next one.

    Good luck dude!

    Regards,
    Lee

  3. This sounds pretty cool but like Lee Ka, I’m also not too confident and a bit shy in facing a cam and worst upload it in youtube.

  4. I am definitely too cam shy for this one

It’s interesting to look at the top 3 from last year, and look at how active their blog is. and 2 of them have already become inactive, oh how quickly the blogging world changes!

    Till then,

    Jean

That reminds me, I still have claimed my free 500 business cards from last time. The shipping ended up being more than if I bought the business cards myself from Australia.
I might enter this time to create a total of 1,500 business cards. Then it might be worth paying the shipping cost.

Expect a video from me shortly

  8. Ryan McLean says:

I said I would post it shortly. I immediately made this video on my iPhone because I wanted to be the first to post my video (another reason why I should win) so here is the link.
Thanks Tyler Cruz and UPrinting for letting me enter this competition

  9. I wonder if these business cards are any good. Anyone know anything about this company?

    • Business cards are a pretty standard order for any printing company. So I’m sure they’re decent quality. If they cheaped out on paper or ink quality they would be sure to get negative feedback all over the web.

  10. The cards are good…I did order from them a while back. Good luck to all!

  11. I hope there is no age limit for this competition because I want to enter!!!
    I think Tyler Cruz rocks!!!

This is my first video so you should be proud that it is just for you TC!

Tyler….just realised that this is only open to US residents over the age of 18…

I am sure you can make an exception for me….and Sasha. I don’t want to have gone to all that effort for nothing.

    Thanks mate.

    • Tyler Cruz says:

Thanks for the second submission. Unfortunately, I will not be able to accept it as a second submission due to the 18-year-old policy. By the way, your daughter seems to be growing up fast… I’m certain I heard her voice crack several times in her video ;)

  13. @ Tyler

I would like to submit this video INSTEAD of my daughter…I am her mother and thus this video is of my doing and as I am over 18 it should be fine. It was made as if Sasha was talking to give it comedic value…but it is my video :)

  14. I am very surprised this is not a Vista Print contest. This is something that they would definitely do

  15. I am definitely too cam shy for this one too :D

Here’s a link to my video with my official entry, as well as a quick little message to UPrinting.com.

  17. Bart says:

Great Contest you got here. Time to get my video skill sharpened up and create my own video.

    Bart

  18. Jeff says:

This looks like a great contest. Too bad I’m not in the US.

  19. Too bad I forgot to join.

  20. Do they also design cards?

  21. email lookup says:

It looks like an interesting contest. You know which part make me laugh though? “Remember, most people are lazy and probably won’t enter, so your chances are most likely very good if you just submit a video.” So, I think I’m one of those lazy people…

But seriously, is it still available??

  22. Great Contest you got here. ;)

  23. I am definitely too cam shy for this one ;)

  24. diziler says:

Tyler Cruz audience of your blog is very good here in Turkey, I’m always following your articles. thank you so much

  25. I am very surprised this is not a Vista Print contest. ;))
