Affiliate Marketing Challenge 8

February 1, 2009 Posted by Tyler Cruz

Note: The results of the Affiliate Marketing Challenge 7 will be posted on February 3rd.

They’re baaaaaaaaack! MarketLeverage may have took a small break from sponsoring my Affiliate Marketing Challenges in January, but are now back with yet another one.

That’s right! Due to the enormous successes of our first six affiliate marketing challenges, MarketLeverage and I have joined together once again to bring you the Affiliate Marketing Challenge 8!

Now, the structure of the competition has changed for the first time in this competition so be sure to read the rules as there have been a number of modifications. The biggest change that you will need to know is that this challenge is for new referrals only. I personally wanted to allow existing publishers to participate and I apologize to those who have already signed up with me, but MarketLeverage wants to try something new this time around.

The good news is that you’re competing only with yourself. For whatever tier you reach, you are guaranteed that prize. For example, if 3 people each generate $50,000, they will each receive a 55-inch HDTV.

Overview

The competition runs from February 1st (12:00AM Eastern time) to February 28th (11:59PM Eastern time).

However, the earlier you register, the more time you have to start making some dough and the better your chances, so the sooner the better!

The process of the challenge is simple: publishers register to MarketLeverage under my referral link and then proceed to make as much money as they can until competition ends on February 28th.

How to Participate

  1. Sign up to MarketLeverage through my referral link by clicking here. It is very important that you register under my referral link or you will not be eligible to participate. If you’ve already registered to MarketLeverage from somewhere else previously then you are unfortunately not eligible to participate.
  2. Important: Only new referrals who sign up under me during February are eligible for this competition.
  3. Earn as much as you can! There are 8 tiers, each with a different corresponding prize. Reach a tier and you win the prize for that tier. As long as you can generate $2,500 in commissions during the month you are guaranteed a prize.

More Information

  • Winners may swap their prize for a PayPal payment of equal value, but must make contact before the prize is sent.
  • For international publishers (residing outside of the US), in the event that we cannot find a company that ships your prize internationally to your country, MarketLeverage will compensate by sending a PayPal payment or bank wire payment (depending on the prize value) for the value of the prize.
  • In order to be eligible for the competition, publishers must be new referrals who sign up under my MarketLeverage referral link during February. No exceptions.
  • Any publisher caught doing illegal measures such as fraud or being in violation of the affiliate network’s Terms of Service will not be eligible for a prize.

Good Luck!

To date, MarketLeverage has given away over $10,000 in prizes to scores of participants in my Affiliate Marketing Challenges. Together, these contestants have generated nearly $500,000 with MarketLeverage in just over half a year. Whether you’re new to affiliate marketing or have been raking in thousands for years, why not start win yourself a nice prize while pushing yourself to generate more at the same time?

My goal for this competition is for the total amount of commissions to hit $115,000. The previous record was in November 2008 when the affiliates brought in $110,000. Since this competition has a different structure which includes only accepting new referrals, my other goal is for at least one person to reach the $10K tier. I want to give some of these great prizes away… especially the Rolex or Segway!

I look forward to seeing how this challenge progresses and hope to see a lot of new affiliates participate.

  1. Beer Monies says:

WTF? New publishers only? Hella Lame.

I also noticed that the amounts for prizes have gone up quite a lot. Considering its for new pubs only and the level of revenue needed to win anything I am going to be that only a few gift cards will be given out. Don’t get your hopes up on this one.

    • Granted the threshold is quite high….ML is the one that’s in charge of the competitions for the most part. I don’t know personally how much I’d be making today if it wasn’t for the December competition.

Maybe they’ll come back next month and do a standard competition…In the mean time, I’m gonna be building new campaigns.

  2. Chris says:

Although I loved your previous contests Tyler, I agree that this one is pretty lame. What’s the incentive for newcomers to join this one?

    • Melvin says:

Well i think its for a simple fact that Ml does want to get quality publishers by now… in the past comp, ther were pubs who made less than $10 yet they got keyboards, $100 ml card, and so. So maybe they want to get some value for the money and gadgets they put up

  3. Jami says:

    I’m game.

    Let’s get it on.

  4. It’s interesting………..I’m sure it’ll be good for market leverage.

The actual prize value for this competition is better than the other ones, unfortunately though, it’s for new referrals.

Oh well , thankfully the money itself is good from affiliate marketing and plenty of people that aren’t in this competition are making money 🙂

  5. deano says:

LOL, has any of your new referrers ever made $2500 in their first month? Most of the people who have been doing it for a few months don’t even get near that amount!

  6. Classifieds says:

These are great prizes, but it looks like its going to be a tough contest because the minimum prize tier is 2500 dollars

  7. Luke says:

Some very nice prizes, but I agree that I’m not sure how many will actually be reached :p

    • Carlito says:

Yeah, my thoughts exactly… I’m gonna skip this one and stick to trying to improve what I already have going at the other networks.

  8. Piper says:

Agreed – lamest contest yet. $50 iTunes card for $2500 in earnings? New or not, that’s not much of a prize.

  9. Greg Ellison says:

It looks like another great set of prizes. Greg Ellison

  10. Sohail says:

I was looking forward to this competition but hell no……..who can generate this money on first month 🙁

  11. Wow, I’m really surprised about this one.

A $50 gift card for generating $2,500 to $5,000 is not that much. It’s basically 1% which you already get as a publisher with them anyways.

If it was just that, whatever, it’s still OK to compete as $50 is $50, but when I saw that it’s only for new publishers I was shocked.

What a slap in the face to existing publishers.

Oh well whatever, I’ll just go tweak a couple of keywords on a campaign and make more than $50 extra next month anyways.

  12. Jeffmondo says:

I guess market leverage got tired of giving prizes to the same handful of guys each month. They should have just banned certain publishers from the contest. $4,999 and get a $50 voucher, yeah, erm, cheers!

  13. Sweet prizes, but I think Market Leverage has pretty much exhausted all the attempts to gain high affiliate marketers.

    -Mike

  14. Patrick says:

If they match my pay with one of my offers (I see it in their backend) I’ll give them $50,000 of traffic this month. I’m not interested in the segway or rolex.

    • Patrick says:

Actually, nevermind. I’ve signed up under you months ago but I never ran any traffic. Will I still be disqualified for this contest?

  15. I don’t mean to be rude but these are just extra bonuses to the commissions that you get from ML, no? If the prize doesn’t justify the efforts for it, why discourage others from trying by saying it’s not worth it to try the challenge?

  16. Moolah says:

I have to agree with the rest of the people here. This current MarketLeverage challenge is not suitable for newbies. However, I don’t think it’s impossible for a newbie to come in generate that much revenue if they target the right affiliate program. Just highly unlikely….

  17. Patrick says:

Well, I’ll ask the AM’s if theres a exception but if not consider me out of this competition lol. I’m quite happy with my current aff company and wouldn’t have a reason to switch otherwise.

  18. One thing about your contest will be that passion you pit into it. Although I loved your previous contests Tyler, I agree that this one is pretty lame. Are they any realistic incentives for those joining for the first time around?

  19. game-girl says:

A great plenty of prizes distract me from the contest.I’ll come tomorrow to read the post thoroughly. The prices are praiseworthy.

  20. Benny says:

I think everything has been said about this contest but I certainly agree. The prizes are nice but to generate so much revenue for a $50 ITunes card just doesn’t match.

Good luck to those who compete. Will be following to see what prizes are given away for this contest.
