Affiliate Marketing Challenge 4: Halfway Point

October 16, 2008 Posted by Tyler Cruz

This is the first update I’ve made on the Affiliate Marketing Challenge 4. Doing weekly updates of the past affiliate competitions seemed a bit too repetitive so I think I’ll probably stick with the launch, midway update, and final results posts from now on instead.

There’s still plenty of time to register and earn your way to a prize (or prizes) so don’t let starting a little bit late affect your decision. In fact, it’s ridiculously easy to grab a spot in the New Referrals category; all you currently need to do is generate $25.01 to take the lead into 1st and be eligible to win yourself an 8GB iPod Nano.

If you haven’t entered yet, I highly recommend you do. MarketLeverage has put up over $10,000 in great prizes that it’s certainly worth your while to try to compete for them. I’m actually very envious of you guys and wish I could compete in my own contest as I’d currently be in the lead for the 8GB iPod Touch…

For those of you who have signed up but are having trouble making any leads or sales, keep working at it! Part of the great thing about this competition is that it really pushes and encourages you to make more money through affiliate marketing. I know of at least a few contestants who have surprised themselves by raking in a lot more dough that they thought they could, simply due to the nature of competition.

    Current Rankings

Here are the latest rankings as of October 15th, 4:25AM Pacific time.

I’ve now referred a total of 107 affiliates to MarketLeverage, of which 9 signed up during this current competition.

Together, during this competition thus far, they’ve generated a total of $36,330.60 in commissions in just two weeks. The current leaderboards are shown below:

    Top Main Affiliates
    Rank Participant
    1st CD8470 “The Behemoth” $29,221.40
    2nd CD8083 $4,271.80
    3rd CD9050 $1,242.00
    4th CD10565 "The Magician" $912.00
    5th CD8137 “The Tortoise” $441.00
      Combined Total (all referrals): $36,330.60

    Top New Affiliates
    Rank Participant Earnings
    1st CD11421 $25.00
    2nd CD11560 $9.60
    3rd CD11387 $6.20
      Combined Total (new sign-ups): $40.80
    Top VIP Affiliates
    Rank Participant Earnings
    1st OPEN N/A
      Combined Total (new sign-ups): N/A

As should be no surprise, “The Behemoth” has continued to show his complete and utter dominance in these competitions, having generated nearly $30,000 in just two weeks. The undefeated, three-time competition winner is on a good pace to hit the $50,000 VIP tier again. It will be interesting to see if he tries to push even harder to get into the $75,000 tier and take home that lovely big screen plasma…

CD8083 made his first appearance since the second affiliate challenge in which he only made around $85. He is now commanding a strong position in 2nd place with over $4,000! If The Behemoth makes it to the $50K tier which he most likely will, then CD8083 will be moved to 1st place in the main category which would mean a lovely 24-inch Dell monitor for him.

Out of the nine new sign-ups to MarketLeverage, only 3 of them have generated commissions so far. The first place is currently at $25 so you only need to generate $25.01 to overtake first place to win an iPod Nano! If that isn’t a deal I don’t know what is. If you haven’t signed up yet, I highly suggest you do…

    Blogging Entrants

Believe it or not, there have only been 2 people who have blogged about this competition. That means that as it stands right now, if you wrote a blog post about this competition, you would be guaranteed a prize since there are 5 prizes available.

This is an easy way to spend 15-20 minutes to make $20. I’ll feel really disappointed if I don’t end up giving all these prizes away…

    Competition Goals and Thoughts

My personal goal for this competition was for the total amount of commissions to hit $65,000. After two weeks, the total stands at $36,330.60 so we’re already on a great pace.

On the other hand, I’m a bit disappointed with the level of participation in this 4rd competition. There are still two weeks left so things can definitely change, but I’m just surprised that with all of the prizes up for grabs that more people aren’t participating…

If you haven’t signed up yet, come on and join the fun! Even if you don’t place in this competition, you’ll be all set up and ready to go for the next one. I hope to see you on the leaderboard list soon!

      Hey Tyler

Just signed up today (hope that I was properlytracked to you). Looking forward to it.. hopefully you’ll see CD11626 on the leaderboard soon..

    2. Dave says:

ps if you win a prize in the New Signup and Main Affiliate category, do you receive both prizes?

    3. Dave says:

      Great, thanks Tyler.

    4. Melvin says:

haha.. Ipod Nano! hopin to nail it home! Btw, people seem to feel lazy to blog these days…

    5. Andrei Buiu says:

Well Tyler, once again I’m gonna blog about this. Hope this time I win something!!!

    6. MLRebecca says:

The contest seems to be going well so far, Tyler. I’m so excited about this contest. Thanks again for hosting another Affiliate Marketing Challenge with MarketLeverage. Good luck to everyone!

    7. Signed up but got rejected by ML….. WTF!

    8. Half way point almost to the end getting to the high runners

    9. CD11611 says:

Yeah, my problem with the competition is that ML doesn’t have high enough payouts or mail out the checks fast enough. If it could get close to what I’m getting on my regular network, I’d be all over this, but as it is, I’ll settle for the iPod Nano and maybe the speaker system.

      • Tyler Cruz says:

If you can generate $1,000 a week you can get paid weekly via wire… and if you’re doing $1,000+ a week I’m sure your affiliate manager would be happy to meet if not beat the payout on the offer(s) you’re getting elsewhere…

    10. Glenn says:

My application got rejected as well.
The rejection email told to email for the reason, which I did; no reply..

      • Dina says:

        Hi Glenn-

Please email me your full name and I’ll look into it. I can be reached at, MLDina or MarketLeverage on Twitter, or MktlvgDina on AIM.

@MikeHuang Unfortunately we can’t switch referrals. Reach out to your publisher manager to discuss some other incentives though. Good luck!

    11. Mike Huang says:

Would it be possible for ML to switch me over to become your referral? 😀

    12. Chris says:

How come the prizes on this post are a little different from the original contest page? The original had a Flip Mino as 4th place prize and 5th place as the keyboard.

    13. Tushar Dhoot says:

      Hi Tyler!

It’s now possible for you to track both your affiliate and other people’s affiliates.

Can you have a contest like that next time? That way more of your readers could get in on the action.
