Major PublisherSpot Features

September 5, 2008 Posted by Tyler Cruz

It’s been quite a while since I posted about PublisherSpotover 3 months in fact. My old programming team just suddenly disappeared, and so I was forced to find a new one to replace them which took some time.

I found a pretty good new team, and invested several thousand more dollars into the site to add a plethora new features and improvements.

The development took longer than expected due to a number of bugs that popped up and my incredible level of attention to detail and perfection.

The number of new features are quite numerous and detailed, so I decided to make a video walkthrough of the new features, found below. I recommend clicking on the button to the very far right on the video player to view the screencast in full-screen.

Some of the new features include:

  • Universal Member System
  • Member Commenting System
  • Improved Voting System
  • Front Page News Area
  • Search by Name Function

Check out the new PublisherSpot and let me know what you think.

I’d like to invite and encourage you to create an account and rate and comment on some networks, or perhaps join in on some discussion in the forums.

If you could blog about PublisherSpot’s new features, that’d be great as well.

I’d love to hear what you think about the site and any constructive criticism you may offer.

I browsed it a little and I must say you did a great job, hope it works out ok. I’ve always been wondering why you don’t put more time and effort into PS, because it seemed like a good idea from the beginning.

By the way, Hi! 🙂 I’ve been following your ‘journey’ for some time, but only now I decided to actually say something 🙂

Yeah i’ve always thought PS was a great project. Honestly though, the homepage is poor.. it doesn’t strike me at all… page width needs to be increased, there needs to be more graphics to break up the huge blocks of text…

Really just aesthetics… with so much content on the site it’s strange you’ve gone for such a narrow width… it’s wasted space in my eyes.

The content is top notch and it has been from day 1 but it needs more bang, va va voom and energy about it. How about an email subscription/newsletter?

Nice job on the new features Tyler. I can feel your pain on the dev team bail out.

How did you find a new programmer team? elance?

  5. Jeff says:

Would be nice to have the ability to add more networks per page, the right side of the screen has a long scroll for me, but the network list is only on the top 1/2 or so.

Thanks for the comments so far guys.

A new (wider) design is certainly under consideration for the future. Conforming to an 800×600 design is a bit archaic since 1024×768 seems to be the “lowest common denominator” these days.

  7. Koi Games says:

The site needs a better design, with more whitespace and less fancy header graphics.

    You the man Tyler! 🙂
Honestly, I really didn’t “get it” before this update. Really cool project, and I have to give you huge respect for being so diligent to ensure that everything is working and investing so heavily in the project. It looks top-notch and I hope that you do in fact succeed. I’ll be blogging this shortly, keep up the fantastic work.

Fascinating blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A theme like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog shine. Please let me know where you got your design. Thank you
